2 Weeks Post Op and We’ve Been Around the Block

Sparky has been doing great, and tomorrow he gets his sutures removed. Yay !  And two days ago we went for what I thought was going to be a short walk.  He was persistent to not turn back so we ended up going all the way around the block (probably a good 1/3 mile).  He had to take many short breaks as we were coming full circle but he didn’t seem to be uncomfortable.

He’s still not eating as much as he used to, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.  I did remove his cervical collar (much nicer than a cone of shame) and was wondering if maybe that has made it hard to swallow.  Time will tell.  He does seem to be wanting to get back to his routines.

I’m really impressed with how he hops up the back step and will post a short video in the next day or so.

Onward!

  1. Onward indeed! Way to go Sparky! This boy is ready to get on with living life to the fullest!!

And yeah, he still has ro take it easy, which sounds like that’s easier said than done with this live wire!
Sooo glad he knows when it’s too much and he sits down to rest!

You may indeed see him eating better without that collar! Some dogs here wouldn’t pee if they had a harness on! Can’t remember if he’s still on meds or not, but they can mess with their appetites. I’m sure you’ve tried chicken, hamburger, etc. Maybe even macaroni and cheese mixed in too. When you take him in for suture removal, ask your vet about an appetite stimulant. Does he appear to be nauseous at all? Maybe something ro coat his rummy, maybe a Pepcid or a Cerenia too if he’s nauseous.

Will be looking forward ro that video! So happy he’s doing so well! Made my day!

    Love ro all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
